Recently joined Tawam Hospital as a Consultant Urological Surgeon, after working in the United Kingdom for more than 25 years. The focus of his work is Urological Oncology, Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery.
Dr Aftab A Bhatti graduated from the University of Punjab, Rawalpindi Medical College, Pakistan. He completed his higher urological training at the Northern Deanery, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK from 1998 to 2005.
Appointed as a consultant Urological Surgeon, Minimally Invasive at the James Cook University Hospital Middlesbrough, UK in 2005. The James Cook University hospital is a regional cancer centre, regional level 1 Trauma facility and a regional Spinal Injury Unit.
Working as Consultant Urological Surgeon, Dr Aftab A Bhatti led the developments of Laparoscopic Urological Surgery at the James Cook University hospital, UK, in a team of 14 consultant urologists within the department
Successfully introduced laparoscopic renal Procedures followed by development of laparoscopic prostatectomy and pelvic node dissection in collaboration with the leading centre in Brussels
He also introduced a novel laparoscopic technique –LESS (lapro-endoscopic Single Site Surgery) more commonly known as scar- less or belly button surgery.
He was a leading member of the Robotic surgery team at James Cook University Hospital, which received STAR award for innovation in 2015.
Received Clinical Excellence awards twice for developing and delivering a high quality service, based on his performance and quality of care he delivered to his patients
Published over 40 peer reviewed publications and his area of research interest includes kidney and prostate cancer
