Dr. Thomas Kunt is the Medical Director at the HealthPlus Diabetes & Endocrinology Center. He has led the HealthPlus Diabetes & Endocrinology Center in partnership with DZM to establish it as a center of excellence in Diabetes & Endocrinology care in Abu Dhabi.
He was Chief of Medicine at the Hospital of Annweiler/Germany until 2002 and at the Sheikh Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi from 2002 onwards. In 2006, he was heading a Private Diabetes Clinic in Berlin/Germany, before returning to Abu Dhabi to fulfill his passion in the field of diabetes care and to implement his vast knowledge and experience in international standards of care for diabetic patients, as part of the team of German experts at the new HealthPlus Diabetes & Endocrinology Center in partnership with Diabetes Zentrum Mergenthiem of Germany.
Dr. Kunt earned his degree from the Johannes-Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany and became a Consultant in Internal Medicine and sub-specialized in the field of Endocrinology & Diabetology by 1998. He received the Albert-Knoll-Award for his scientific work on vascular complications in Diabetes mellitus. Dr. Kunt has also worked as an Assistant Professor at the Johannes-Gutenberg-University and was awarded the title of an Associate Professor of Medicine in 2000.
Dr. Kunt’s clinical focus lies in Diabetes & Endocrinology and he is a member of the Guideline Task Force of the “International Diabetes Federation (IDF)”, and the Guideline Committee of the German Diabetes Association. He has published numerous scientific papers in the field of diabetes and lectures on a regular basis worldwide. Dr. Kunt is also active with all types of local media and is committed to Public Education on Diabetes.
