Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi’s premier hub for art, cultural activities and community events has announced ‘My Quest for Zayed’ exhibition from 10th December 2018 to 17th January 2018. The unique exhibition will see artist Mohammed Aljneibi showcase his personal collection of old and rare Arabic magazines and newspapers containing photographs of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the exhibition forms part of an initiative titled ‘MAS Collectors Programme’, which aims at discovering and promoting young, emerging and established enthusiasts from the local community. Through this initiative, Manarat Al Saadiyat seeks to provide a platform for collectors to showcase their work, while examining the intellectual practice of collecting and highlighting its importance in the wider society.
Ardent collector and history enthusiast, Mohammed Aljneibi is set to bring the UAE’s history to life through engaging archives and chronicles. His passion has driven him on extended travels across other Middle Eastern countries as well as the rest of the world, where he was able to collect and compile Arabic and foreign publications that included stories on the late Sheikh Zayed, his generosity and wisdom. The young Emirati artist often dedicates his time towards collecting antiquities, ancient books and periodicals published in the Middle East during the 20th century (1900-1999).
